KOTTAYAM: A major fire broke out in the textiles shop in Thalayolaparambu. Things including clothes, generators and a car parked nearby have been burnt. Short circuit is likely to be the cause of the fire. No casualty has been reported.

The fire broke out Sunday early morning at 1.20 am. The building is owned by Johnson Puliveli. New stocks had arrived as part of Onam. A loss of Rs 20 lakh is estimated. The fire was doused by almost four units of the fire force.
