THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is predicted in the state in the coming days. The Central Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at isolated places. A whirlwind has formed over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

Two other whirlwinds exist over southwest Madhya Pradesh, southeast Rajasthan and northeast Gujarat, and over the central west Bay of Bengal and northwest Bay of Bengal. A new depression is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and central west Bay of Bengal near Odisha - Andhra Pradesh coast by Monday.

A yellow alert has been issued in six districts today due to the possibility of heavy rains. A warning has been issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The National Oceanic Research Center informed that there is a possibility of waves up to three and a half meters high along the coast of Kerala. There is also a warning not to go fishing from the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
