THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President K Sudhakaran said that the candidate will be from the Puthupally family itself. Sudhakaran told the media that the party would accept the name suggested by the family, and the family would decide whether it is a son or a daughter. He also demanded that the CPM should show the discipline to avoid competition.

Earlier, Cherian Philip had also raised the same demand. He stated that Chandy Oommen has every right to be Oommen Chandy's successor in Puthupally.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former KPCC president, Mullapally Ramachandran, demanded that there should be no personal interests in the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that personal preferences should be set aside to decide the candidate for the Lok Sabha elections.

He told a leading media outlet that the new generation of Congress should take Oommen Chandy as an example since Oommen Chandy proved his popularity without relying on PR agencies. Everyone has their role in Congress, as it is a big party.
