KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode city police commissioner days back came up with a bizarre circular asking police officers to contribute money for running a temple on the police station premises. After the letter went viral, many police officers showed disapproval of the move which has now forced the commissioner to double back from the decision.

Muthalakulam Sree Bhadrakali Temple comes under the city police limit. It was a continuing tradition over the years that saw the police officers contributing to the temple from their monthly wages. Some days back, a circular reached police officers in Kozhikode saying a certain amount of money was to be recovered from their monthly wages; all to help the management in Sree Bhadrakali Temple.

According to the circular, Rs 20 will be deducted from every police officer as this tradition was continuing unhindered for many years. However this time, some officers were least happy with the move and they approached higher officials to share their disapproval. It was after such a development that the commissioner canceled the circular.
