KOZHIKODE: CPM will be represented in the seminar organized by the Muslim Coordination Committee against the uniform civil code. The confirmation was done by the district leadership. District committee member KT Kunhikannan will represent CPM and participate in the seminar to be held in Kozhikode on the 26th of this month. Muslim League General Secretary PM Salam had earlier informed that CPM has been invited to the seminar. He also clarified that the seminar is not organized for political organizations. League President Sadiqali Shihab is the in-charge of the Muslim Coordination Committee.

CPM had also organized a seminar last week on the issue of uniform civil code. Samastha attended the seminar but the league declined the invitation. League said that the reason for this was that their ally, Congress, was not invited. It is after this that the CPM is invited to the seminar where the leadership itself explains that it is being conducted under the leadership of the League and not in a political context.

Although Muslim League stayed away from the seminar, all prominent leaders of Muslim religious and community organizations, including EK sect Sunnis, participated in the seminar organized by the CPM. Fr. Joseph Kalarikal of Thamarassery Diocese, Fr. Janson Monsilor Puthanveetil of Kozhikode Diocese and Santhosh Arayakandy, SNDP YOGAM Devaswom Secretary declared solidarity on the occasion.

The State Secretariat also assessed that the seminar conducted by CPM on the subject of uniform civil code was a success. It was also decided that the Left Front would take up the issues of uniform civil code and Manipur riots and carry forward with further campaign programs.
