THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new private cyber forensic lab has opened in Kerala and it is staying apart for some peculiar services it offers. Here, along with the victims of cybercrime, the accused can also approach for service. This is the first of its kind to function in Kerala.

Mibiz Cyber Forensics Laboratory is located in Thiruvananthapuram and the lab is experiencing a serious rush from its starting days. Recently, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission asked one Phone company to provide compensation to an Alappuzha-based student who was injured after his phone exploded. The forensic details of the phone were conducted in Mibiz and their result proved crucial for the Consumer Commission’s decision.

Ambalapuzha native Anoop Raju was thus offered a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs and an additional Rs 10,000 for conducting court-related proceedings. The Alappuzha Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission asked phone company 'OPPO' and e-commerce platform Flipkart to pay compensation to Anoop.

The lab can confirm the presence of the accused in a crime spot by tracing the location of the phone. The evidence can be then submitted to the court. Hard disk, memory card, laptop, and computer will be subjected to imaging and analyzing techniques which can formate strong evidence in any case. Important data can also be recovered as per instructions from the customers.

The government's forensic lab, and the police's cyber dome work just for assisting the prosecution in all cases. The accused people are often on the fag end of suspicion for not being able to produce evidence. Mibiz hopes to change that trend.
