THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Homes were destroyed and trees were uprooted in the sudden rains that lashed all across Kerala. A boat capsized in Thrissur’s Kanimangalam and one man went missing. Two people from the boat swam across the river to safety. For the approaching five days, the IMD predicted big rainfall to fall across Kerala. The northern part of Kerala will experience rains a tad fiercer than the rest. In the southern part of Kerala, rains are expected to arrive mostly in the evenings. In the coming days, strong winds will be witnessed across the state.
In the boat capsize incident, Panamukku native Ashiq (26) went missing. The search is ongoing for him but the continuing rains are proving a hindrance. Ashiq was accompanied by his friends Ashiq Babu (24) and Neeraj Krishna (24). However, both of them escaped the danger after swimming across the length.
In Varakkara Bhagavathi Temple in Thrissur, the rains took away the roofing sheets used in the office building. In Kannur, an under-construction two-storeyed building crumbled in the heavy rains. The second-floor casting was completed just two weeks before and it was all shattered dreams for KSEB employee Babu, the house owner.
The Kabani River is overflowing in Wayanad. Three houses were partially destroyed in tree-falling accidents. These incidents were reported in Nadapuram, Cherumoth, and Meppayur.
