ALAPPUZHA: A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near an under construction complex of Alappuzha General Hospital. The deceased has been identified as Ajmal Shaji (24), son of Shaji of Puthen Veedu, in Mukkavalakkal in Alappuzha Municipality's Palace Ward. The body was found lying prone. There are cuts on the face and back of the head. He was wearing a t shirt and shorts at the time. The body was shifted to the mortuary at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital and further procedures were taken by the police. Ajmal, who was working in Dubai, recently returned home and joined work at a medical store in Kaichundimukku.

At the same time, Ajmall's relatives came forward alleging mystery in the death. Relatives told the police that Ajmal left home at 10.30 am yesterday to attend a wedding.

The police are checking the CCTV footage nearby. Dog squad arrived at the scene but no evidence was obtained due to heavy rain. Ajmal left the house without taking his mobile phone. The preliminary conclusion of the police is that he reached the hospital alone. CCTV footage is not available as it is behind the building. Migrant workers live in the building under construction. They have stated that they did not see the incident.

Ajmal's mobile phone has been recovered by the police and is being examined in detail. The police said that the cause of death will be known only after receiving the post-mortem report.
