LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Minister Pratibha Shukla addressed the issue of skyrocketing tomato prices, proposing measures to tackle the problem and ease the burden on consumers. She said that reducing tomato consumption would naturally lead to lower prices, stating, 'When the demand decreases, the prices will come down as well.'
'Cutting down on the use of expensive goods will put pressure on the traders to reduce prices,' the minister explained. To mitigate the impact of rising tomato prices, Minister Shukla suggested an 'innovative' approach – encouraging people to grow tomatoes at home. The minister proposed using lemons as a substitute for tomatoes.
