THRISSUR: Aattur Santhosh Kumar, a native of Thrissur's Puranattukara has created the world's shortest Ramayana. He managed to condense the epic tale, consisting of 24,000 verses into a tiny book measuring just five millimeters in length and width. This exceptional work showcases the entire journey of 'Putrakameshti' up to Rama's final days. Despite its size, the book covers the complete story with only 603 words. The text is so compact that it can only be read with the help of a magnifier lens.
Kumar, who owns a printing press in Thrissur personally printed the book here itself. For readers who may find the three-millimeter letter size challenging to read, he also produced a slightly larger version measuring five centimeters in length and width. He made his initial mark in the literary realm by penning a novel centered around Shatrughnan in the Ramayana.
