WAYANAD: A team led by Mananthavady excise circle inspector Sujith Chandran took into custody a Hyundai car that was carting 200 gm of MDMA. The culprit, Kozhikode Narikkuni native Vipin has been arrested. The seized MDMA is valued to be around Rs 2 lakhs in the market. According to police, Anoop is the notorious leader of a cartel that works mostly in transporting huge junks of MDMA from neighboring states to Kerala. Their operations are often carried out in the most furtive manner.

Anoop is also accused in a murder case after he knocked down a student with his speeding car and confirmed the death. The seized MDMA comes in innumerable quantity and the police expect Anoop to spend more than 20 years in jail. An additional fine of Rs 2 lakhs will also be placed.

The inspection was conducted by a team comprising Excise Inspector Jijil Kumar, Preventive Officers Elias PV and Jinosh PR, Civil Excise Officers Arjun M, Prince TJ, Sanoop, Chandran AC, and Suresh VK.
