NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified the policy on Manipur riots. He informed the Parliament that he was ready to discuss the issue. Amit Shah made his stand while the opposition was continuously demanding that the Prime Minister should respond on the inhumane incidents of violence in Manipur. Despite the Union Home Minister saying that he was ready for talks, the opposition did not budge from the stand that the Prime Minister should talk about the Manipur issue. With this, the house became more agitated. Amit Shah responded that it is unfortunate that the opposition is obstructing the House.

The debate between the ruling and opposition parties on the Manipur issue was witnessed by both the Houses today. Aam Aadmi MP Sanjay Singh faced suspension for acting against Speaker's ruling in Rajya Sabha. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was allowed to speak by the Speaker as the opposition parties demanded that the government respond on the Manipur issue. Meanwhile, Chaudhary demanded that Prime Minister Modi should make a statement in this regard in the House.

With this, Speaker Om Birla said that the entire House is ready for discussion and requested everyone to not interrupt the question and answer session. The speaker said the government would reply to the discussion but the opposition should not decide who should reply. Amid the ensuing controversy, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh for repeatedly flouting the chair's instructions.

Meanwhile, opposition parties and BJP members staged a separate dharna under the statue of Gandhi in Parliament.

The opposition parties staged a dharna demanding the Prime Minister's statement on the Manipur riots. Meanwhile, BJP members protested against the increase in attacks on women in Rajasthan.
