KASARGOD: Police have arrested five people over the incident in which a group of students, including girls, faced a moral policing attack while returning from Bekal Fort in Kasargod after a birthday celebration. The arrested have been identified as TA Abdul Mansoor (41), KS Abdul Khadar Afeeq (37), Muhammad Nisar (38), BK Arif (32) and MS Syed Afreed (21). The accused were arrested by the police team led by Melparamba SI Anuroop.
The incident took place in Melparamba town on Sunday evening after the group of students, who was returning in a car from Bekal Fort, stopped the car at Melparamba to have food. After some time, a gang approached the car and attacked the students alleging that they remained together in the car for a long time. As per the complaint lodged with the police, the gang manhandled the students and did not allow them to get out of the car. The complainants said that they remained in the car as it was raining heavily.
Police, which reached the spot immediately after learning about the incident, took three persons into custody. The girls, who were in the car, were allowed to go with their parents.
