KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode District Collector on Monday said that strict action will be taken against those spreading false messages through social media even before the district administration officially declares a holiday. District Collector A Geetha IAS issued warnings about the fake posters after declaring a holiday for educational institutions in the district on Tuesday due to heavy rain.
The District Collector said that although the official announcement of the holiday came at around 7.45 pm, the news about the holiday started spreading through social media at around 6 pm.
'Such posters spreading through social media are fake. Strict action will be taken against those who spread fake news and posters,' the Collector wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the Collector announced that Tuesday (July 25) will remain a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, due to heavy rains in the district. The holiday is also applicable to Anganwadis in the district. There is no change in pre-scheduled exams.
