RANNI: Man who was hit on the head during a scuffle that happened when he was drinking at home, dead. The deceased is Jobin (29), son of Vegathadathil Johnson, a native of Motiravayal. Jobin's brother Jojo and his friend Sudheesh (Ponnu) were arrested by the police in connection with the incident. Police's explanation about the incident. - Johnson often drinks and fights with his children when he is home. Johnson, his wife Vijayamma and Jobin live in the house. The elder brother Jojo, who lives in his wife's house, also comes here to drink. Vijayamma does not stay at home at night because of their fighting and she spends the night at her brother's house. Sudheesh had also came to drink on Sunday night and Vijayamma went to her brother's house.

When she returned at 6:20 yesterday morning, she found Jobin dead in the hall bleeding from the head. There were bruises on the body. Then neighbors and panchayat vice president Anita Anilkumar were informed. Ranni police also reached the spot. Jobin and his group were at Urul Junction late at night. The dispute that happened when they reached home after that is what resulted in the murder. Johnson was home when police arrived.

Jojo was caught from Kumali bus at Ittiyappara bus stand and Sudhish from his house.

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Ranni DySP R Binu, under the leadership of Police Inspector PS Vinod. The team includes Anish and Sreegovind who are SIs; Anil, Krishnankutty and Krishnakumar who are ASIs; SCPO Biju Mathew, CPOs Sumil Shinto, Ajas, Soju, Liju, Alvin Joseph, Jinu, Vineeth and Renju. District Special Branch DYSP R Jose also reached the spot.

Jobin is the accused in the 2015 case of Athikkayam native Abhijit Mohan who was hit on his face with a stone. Jojo has been in jail in a POCSO case. Jobin's body was shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital. He is married and has a child. Unable to bear the nuisance, his wife and child stay in their own house.
