PALAKKAD: The lightning cyclone at Chalavara in Cherpulassery has caused widespread damage. Around 15 houses were partially destroyed after several trees uprooted in the region. The cyclone hit the Chalavara area on Monday night at around 8.
Two houses were partially destroyed at Palattupadi in Chalavara after the teak trees owned by the Forest Department fell on them. Two autorickshaws and a scooter were also destroyed.
The Chalavara Kubera temple was also damaged after a tree fell on top of the temple. The roof tiles and windows of the temple fell to the ground due to strong winds.
More than 20 electricity poles were also broken after trees fell on top of them in the lightning cyclone. The electricity supply in the area has been completely disrupted since Monday night. Traffic was also disrupted due to fallen trees.
