Chandan Singh Lodhi, a native of Barkheda, approached Gajendra Singh to demarcate the land he owned. However, he demanded Rs 5000 from the farmer as bribe. The farmer, who was unable to pay, filed a complaint at the Lokayukta office in Jabalpur. The farmer then came to Gajendra Singh's office with the money given by the Lokayukta officials. Soon after accepting the money, Gajendra Singh swallowed the money seeing them.

He was soon rushed to the hospital for medical examination. A case has been registered and further probe is underway, said the police.
