THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A special squad should make regular inspections in the revenue department offices to cleanse every remaining remnant of corruption, ordered revenue department principal secretary Tinku Biswal IAS. The decision for the special inspection was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Minister K. Rajan on June 5 and it will be the duty of district collectors to ensure that the inspections work effectively. Based on the reform proposed, a special group was formed under the leadership of the Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Deputy Secretary of the Revenue Department. The training for officers was given in ILDM. The officers found compromising in the inspection will face strict punitive actions, informed the ministry.

It is after the infamous bribery that happened in the Palakkayam village office that the department pondered over such moves. Officers in charge of each revenue department should inform every happening to the minister and the revenue principal secretary in a timely manner. The inspection will include matters such as delay in acting on applications and disposal of applications without following the priority. The public can lodge complaints regarding bribery and corruption in the Revenue Department on the toll-free number 1800 425 5255, between 10 am to 5 pm on working days. The name and address of the complainant will be made anonymous.
