THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The trial of the case of smuggling 101 kg of ganja and 3 kg of hashish oil from Andhra to Kerala will begin on September 11. All the five accused in the case denied the crime in the court. Sixth Additional District Sessions Judge K Vishnu heard the case. The accused smuggled drugs worth Rs 4 crore in the international market.

The accused are S Riyas, resident of Salim Mandir near Melattingal Sankaramangalam Shiva Temple; Jazeel of Varkala, Manambur, Kattadi Mukku, Muhabat house; and assistants A Nias of Konni Kummannoor, A Faisal of Pavaratty,Chavakkad, Thrissur and Kenyan Shaji alias Shaji of Vathikudy Perinjankutti, Idukki. Another accused, Shihabuddin alias Faizu, a resident of Akalad, Chavakkad, Thrissur, is absconding. The accused were arrested on October 8, 2020 from Kilimanoor Altharamoodu.
