THRISSUR: The gruesome death of grandparents in Vailathur has given shivers to close neighbors and the people in the state by large. The grandson Akmal has confessed to the crime and admitted to doing the most heinous of crimes after the grandparents denied him money to start a business venture. Akmal entered into a tiff with the grandparents the previous night of the murder after Abdullah(75) and Jameela (64) denied Rs 50 lakhs to him.

The grandparents were sleeping when Akmal murdered them. Two knives normally used in the house were found by police. On Tuesday morning at 9 am, Akmal was brought to the house along with an entourage of police officers for collecting evidence. He was seen as composed and blasé during the procedures.

According to locals, Akmal suffers from mental imbalance and is known for creating ruckuses in the locality. Police caught him from Mangalore when he tried selling the stolen gold from his grandmother Jameela. According to police details, Jameela's head was cut off and placed near the staircase, while Abdullah's face was beyond recognition and was mutilated by the culprit.

Akmal in his days as a student in Mangalore got his first taste of synthetic and banned drugs. The bond turned inseparable as drugs acclimatized into his living, only to take a toll on his life mentally. Akmal’s mother has married a second time and lives in Kollam. She has detached away from her son.
