THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case was filed in connection with the malfunctioning of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's microphone while he was speaking at the Oommen Chandy memorial event. A case was registered by the Cantonment Police. The incident took place during the commemoration program organized by KPCC at Ayyankali Hall yesterday. While the Chief Minister was speaking, the mic was interrupted.
The Cantonment Police registered the case voluntarily under the Kerala Police Act. It is reported that the case has been registered under the crime of knowingly doing an act that endangers public safety. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan and former Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala attended the function presided over by K Sudhakaran. The Chief Minister's speech was interrupted twice in the meeting.
As the Chief Minister approached the mike to deliver his speech, some activists chanted "Ooman Chandy Zindabad" slogans from the hall's balcony. The Chief Minister watched patiently as the slogan went on. The leaders present on the stage and Oommen Chandy's son Chandy Oommen raised their hands and asked them to stop chanting slogans.
Minutes into his speech, the microphone encountered a malfunction. The problem was fixed quickly and he continued his speech.
