NEW DELHI: The opposition has moved a no-confidence motion notice against the central government. The notice was issued under the leadership of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. The notice is aimed at Prime Minister's response on the Manipur issue. The Congress had issued a whip directing all MPs to be present in the Parliament.
A no-confidence motion requires the support of fifty MPs in the Lok Sabha. Meantime, the government has stated that they are ready for a short discussion under Rule 176 and Amit Shah will speak on the issue. Vigilance continues in Manipur where internet has been partially restored. Security has also been beefed up in Mizoram, where the Meithei sect has fled.
On the day of the start of the Parliament session, the Prime Minister responded to the Manipur riots in front of the media. Modi reacted by condemning the incident of stripping women on the road. The visuals surfacing is painful, the ordeal of the daughters of Manipur is unforgivable. The incident has shamed the civilized society. The Prime Minister said that the culprits will not be spared and said that the law will be applied with all power.
