NEW DELHI: Woman who threatened former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh's mother and attempted to extort money has been arrested. On the complaint of Yuvraj's mother, Shabnam Singh, a woman named Hema Kaushik was apprehended by the Gurugram police. According to the police, the woman tried to extort money by making false accusations against the cricketer's family.

Hema came to Yuvraj Singh’s home to take care of Yuvraj's sick brother, Sorwar Singh. However, the family was dissatisfied with her work leading to her dismissal after 20 days. Following this, Hema sent threatening messages prompting Shabnam Singh to file a police complaint.

Hema threatened to file a false case against Sorwar Singh and tarnish his family's reputation if he did not pay Rs 40 lakh. It was at this point that Shabnam Singh lodged a police complaint. As per the police instructions, Hema was informed that she would be given Rs 5 lakh as the first phase of the requested money. When Hema arrived to collect this money, she was taken into custody by the police team.
