KASARAGOD: Five people were arrested in the case of shouting hate slogans in the youth league rally. Hosdurg police arrested five people, including youth league activist Abdul Salam, who shouted slogans for others to repeat. Hate slogans were raised during the Manipur solidarity rally held at Kanhangad yesterday.
In the incident, the police have registered a case against 300 known people. The case is under various sections including hurting religious sentiments. The action was taken on the complaint of the BJP constituency president. State General Secretary PK Firoz informed that Abdul Salam was expelled from the organization after the incident. Firoz stated that the action was taken for acting against the policies of the Muslim League and for changing the slogans which were given in print. PK Firoz said in a statement that what Abdul Salam did was an unforgivable mistake.
The video of the incident was widely circulated on social media. BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya shared the video on Twitter. Amit Malviya shared the video and wrote on Twitter that 'They wouldn’t have dared to go this far had the Pinarayi Govt not been supporting them'.
