In 2004, during a concert in Chennai, Chithra sang "Uvvoru pookkalume solkiruthen....vaazhvental poraadum porkkalame...." which roughly translates to "Life is a war to fight bravely without giving up." At the side of the stage, a young man moved to tears approached Chithra after the show. He emotionally expressed, ‘Amma, you are the reason I am alive today. I heard this song when I decided to commit suicide and it brought me back to life...’ To this, Chithra humbly reassured him, ‘I am not the reason, my voice simply found expression through this song... it was the lyrics, written by Pa Vijay, that brought you back to life.’

Suspense gift from friends

The celebration of Chithra's birthday took place at her residence in Chennai with only close family members participating in the poojas and traditional Kerala feast held in the afternoon. Meanwhile, in Kochi, there is a suspense as friends who are singers and music producers have compiled songs to mark the occasion. Young music composers also plan to release birthday greetings and short songs on social media to honour the legendary singer's special day.
