KOCHI: KSRTC has informed the High Court that it has requested the government to allocate Rs 130 crore for providing salary and benefits. The High Court directed the government to inform what action it took in this regard. Justice Devan Ramachandran gave the direction while considering petitions against delay in payment of salary and pension.
While considering the petition last time, the High Court had directed KSRTC to pay the salary arrears. It also asked how much should be paid if the pension has not been paid. KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar, who was present online, explained that the pension has been paid and the government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore to pay the salary arrears for June. Following this, KSRTC told the court that it has demanded Rs 130 crore for paying the salary for the coming months.
The senior government pleader explained that the demand of KSRTC is under the consideration of the government and that the state is facing a severe financial crisis. He also pointed out that the state is not getting the financial assistance it should get from the Centre.
