NEW DELHI: The central government held talks with the Kuki and Meitei sects to defuse the crisis in the state. The former Additional Director of the Intelligence Bureau participated in the discussion on behalf of the central government.
The Congress demanded a special assembly session to discuss the Manipur conflict. Congress MLAs, including former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, submitted a memorandum to Governor Anusuya Uikey.
Okram Ibobi Singh said that the Governor assured that she would ask the government to convene the assembly session. He said that a permanent solution should be found after a detailed discussion in the House. Okram Ibobi Singh also asked why the Prime Minister remained silent for so long on the Manipur conflict and that the Prime Minister should answer all the questions raised about Manipur in the Parliament.
