THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two have been arrested in the capital city for kidnapping a baby from Nagercoil. The two arrested has been identified as Shanthi and Narayanan. They kidnapped a four-month-old baby from Nagercoil. The police suspect that the baby was kidnapped to engage it in begging.
The accused abducted the baby of a nomadic couple sleeping at the railway station last Monday. The baby went missing from Vadasery police area in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu police had registered a case and conducted an investigation. CCTV visuals obtained shows the accused entering Ernad train. This was informed to the Kerala Police and the visuals of the accused were also handed over to them. The Kerala Police also conducted an investigation based on it.
After knowing that the baby was abducted for begging, the Tamil Nadu police conducted a search at the temples. In the meanwhile, the police on suspicion examined the baby at Chirayinkeezhu railway station. On inspection, it was confirmed that the baby was abducted. Following that, the Kerala Police handed over their pictures to the Tamil Nadu Police. The Tamil Nadu police identified them after seeing the pictures. The Chirayinkeezhu police took Shanthi and Narayanan into custody and questioned them. They told police that they brought the child to nurture. The accused have been handed over to the Tamil Nadu Police.
