NEYYATTINKARA: A court has sentenced a 70-year-old man to 17 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakhs for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy. It was Judge Vidyadharan of Neyyattinkara fast-track POCSO court who sentenced Manchavilakom native Nesamani to 17 years of rigorous imprisonment. He will have to spend an additional six months in jail if he fails to pay the fine. The fine should be handed over to the victim. The incident took place in 2018. The case is that the accused sexually abused the boy after luring him by promising that he will take him to a nearby stream to catch fish. It was the Child Rights Committee that informed the Marayamuttam police after conducting an inquiry based on a complaint received by the committee.
