CHALAKUDY: A tribal woman was killed by her husband in Peringalkuthu. The deceased is Geetha (34), who was living in KSEB quarters. Suresh, Geetha's husband is on the run. The Athirappily police have started searching for Suresh. Geetha is the daughter of sweeper Janaki of the KSEB section. The incident happened on Thursday morning.

Suresh had quarreled with Geetha after getting drunk on the day of the incident. Police reached the house after Geetha's children contacted the police after they saw Suresh attack Geetha. However, Suresh had taken Geetha to the forest by the time the police reached the house. When the morning dawned, Suresh was seen carrying his wife and putting her to bed. Later, the children started shouting when they found Geetha was not responding despite their repeated calls.

Although a search was conducted under the leadership of Athirappilly SHO Laijumon, Suresh could not be found. Thrissur Rural SP Aishwarya Dongre reached the spot and collected information. From the inquest, it became clear to the police that the woman was beaten up in the forest and dragged through the rocks. The body has been shifted to Mulankunnathukavu Medical College for post-mortem. Children: Sudhin, Sumesh, and Shreya.
