PATHANAMTHITTA: Afsana, wife of Noushad of Kalanjoor Padam, who went missing, will be subjected to a polygraph test. She had the other day stated that she killed him and then buried the body. She keeps on changing her statements. It is believed that she is quite normal and mentally fit.

The body could not be found even after digging all the places mentioned by her. The investigation team has decided to take Afsana, who is presently remanded, into custody and interrogate her. It will also be examined if anyone had helped her in committing the crime. The woman has been arrested on charges of cheating the police and destroying evidence.

Noushad went missing on November 1, 2021, from their rented house near Adoor Paruthipara Mosque. Following the complaint of Noushad's relative, the Koodal police was conducting an investigation. Later, she left her house and shifted to Noushad's house in Koodal.

Meanwhile, Koodal sub inspector Shemimol got information that there was a mystery in the incident and so she summoned Afsana to the station yesterday and questioned her. Initially, she said she saw Noushad three days ago in Adoor, but after checking the CCTV footages, it was found that this was not true. When interrogated again, she confessed that she had killed her husband and buried him.

She told police that they were together for only three months after their marriage and that Noushad used to harass her regularly after getting drunk. He used to brutally attack their son. Unable to bear the harassment, she killed him. Her statements were contradictory. First, she said that she hid the body in the mosque’ cemetery, then she said threw it in the river and later said buried the body at home with the help of someone. At around 3.30 pm, a team including police and forensic experts took Afsana and reached the house in Paruthipara where they were staying on rent. The two rooms, including the kitchen, where Afsana said the body was buried, were dug. They also examined the pit taken to dump garbage in the yard behind the house, but nothing could be found.
