BENGALURU: Extremist Thadiyantavide Nazeer has been taken into custody by Karnataka police just days after a foiled bomb blast planned in four major spots in Bengaluru city by his ilks. A five-member gang was caught by police earlier regarding the crime. After hours of grilling sessions, they opened up about their heinous plans. The police said the plan was masterminded by Thadiyantavide Nazeer who was at the time lodged inside Parappana Agrahara central prison. And now, a special court has allowed eight days of custody time for Karnataka police to question Nazeer regarding the foiled plans.
The five-member gang was arrested on July 19 when they readied plans to blast the highly populated happening city of the south. Bengaluru natives Syed Suhail Khan (24), Muhammad Umar (29), Shahid Tabrez (25), Syed Mudashir Pasha (28), and Muhammad Faisal (30) were arrested for the crime. According to reports, these five-member gang were earlier lodged inside Parappana jail, where they got engrossed in the doctrines inculcated by Nazeer.
Another wanted Junaid has gone fugitive and has reportedly escaped to gulf countries. It was in 2017 that Junaid and his gang were arrested for murdering a businessman Noor Ahmed. In their 18 months of jail term, Nazeer was successful enough to lure the young minds into the track of extremism. After getting released in 2019, Junaid and his gang planned for the offensive in his home at R T Nagar.
Nazir was the South Indian Commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is also the prime accused in the infamous Kalamassery bus burning case and for recruiting youth from Kerala to Jammu and Kashmir for terrorist activities.
