KOLLAM: A special drive conducted by the Kollam city police on the instructions of the state police chief nabbed many people including criminals. The inspection was conducted from 7 pm on July 27 to 2 am the next day. Most of them were caught driving under the influence of alcohol. The police informed that 167 people who violated the law were arrested.
The special drive was conducted under the leadership of Kollam, Chathannoor and Karunagapally ACPs on the instructions of District Police Chief Merin Joseph. All the police inspectors under them and most of the city officials were included in the special inspection.
Three people in serious cases, six people in criminal cases, 58 people under non-bailable warrants and 17 people under long pending warrants were arrested in various station limits. Also, many cases were registered for possession of prohibited tobacco products and under the Abkari Act. The city police commissioner informed that strict inspection will continue in the coming days.
