KOCHI: IG Guguloth Laxman has made a serious allegation against the chief minister's office in the petition to cancel the case against him in connection with Monson Mavunkal. He has alleged that an extraordinary constitutional authority centred on the Chief Minister's office is working to arbitrate some financial transactions in the state and settle disputes. He also alleged that this authority even resolves disputes referred to various arbitrators by the High Court. The petition also alleges that even the illegal action against him by the crime branch in the Monson case was the intervention of these invisible hands and unconstitutional intelligence playing behind the scenes. But the petition does not say who this authority is.
The crime branch investigation team has issued a notice to Laxman to appear on Monday for questioning. IG Laxman argued that in the initial phase of the case, the complainants did not mention his name in their complaint or statement to the Chief Minister. Since the addition of his name is illegal, he pleaded that the case against him should be quashed.
Justice Raja Vijaya Raghavan, who heard the petition the other day, sought the government's position. The petition will be heard again on August 18. KPCC President K. Sudhakaran, DIG S. Surendran and IG Guguloth Laxman have been made accused in the case by the crime branch. Earlier, the High Court had granted interim anticipatory bail to IG Gugulot Laxman in this case.
