THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Railways have announced that two special trains will be running from Chennai and one from Bengaluru to control the Onam rush. Ticket bookings start today.
Bangalore - Kochuveli Onam Special will depart at 12:45 pm on August 23, 30 and September 6 and reach Kochuveli at 6 am the next day. The return service from Kochuveli on August 22, 29 and September 5 will depart at 6:05 pm and reach Bengaluru at 10:55 the next morning. The train will have 16 third AC coaches and two sleepers. The stops include Kollam, Kayamkulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Podannur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Bangarpet and K R Puram.
Onam Special from Chennai Tambaram to Mangalore via Kerala will depart at 1:30 pm on August 22, 29 and September 5 reaching Mangalore at 6:45 am the next day. The return service from Mangalore will depart at 10 am on August 23, 30 and September 6 and reach Tambaram at 4:45 am the next day. The train will have two second AC, two third AC, 12 sleepers and two general coaches. The stops include Chennai, Perambur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Ottapalam, Shornur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Ferok, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod.
Onam Special from Chennai to Ernakulam will depart at 3:10 pm on August 25, September 1 and 8 reaching Ernakulam at 3 am the next day. The return service will depart from Ernakulam on August 24, 31 and September 7 at 9 pm and reach Chennai at 11:30 am the next day. The train will have one second AC, four third AC, 10 sleepers and three general coaches. The stops include Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Podannur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpet, Katpadi and Arakkonam.
