THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Police took to Facebook to apologize for not being able to save the five-year-old girl murdered in Aluva. The post reads that although the accused was arrested, their efforts to bring the child alive to his parents were unsuccessful.

The local residents have alleged that the police were lax in the investigation. They also pointed out that the criminals got time to escape. The Facebook post of the police was also full of criticism.

'How many people were there to investigate the case? It is your fault. Keep your apologies", a comment reads.

"Apologize every time there is a problem. How many incidents happened like this? What justice has been served, you keep apologizing as long as the criminals are fed with chicken and mutton…”, reads another comment.

In response to the criticism, the police wrote on Facebook: "Since the complaint was received at 7 pm yesterday, vigorous investigation had started. CCTV footage was collected and the accused was identified as soon as possible. The accused was found and arrested in the morning. Like you, every police officer is pained by not being able to bring the child alive to the parents. We are parents too. It is that pain that we have shared through the tribute post".
