KOCHI: The Congress is staging a protest against the alleged absence of government representatives from the public viewing and funeral of the five-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Aluva. DCC President Mohammed Shiyas said that the government has no propriety.

"Although Minister P Rajeeve is in charge of the district, no one came to attend the funeral. The Congress will organize a widespread protest in Ernakulam. A protest march will be held at the block level tomorrow. We will also organize a march to the Aluva police station tomorrow. There was a serious lapse on the part of the police regarding the murder of the child," Shiyas said.

Meanwhile, Minister Mohammed Riyas said that he does not know much about the absence of ministers at the funeral ceremony and will tell after investigating. He also said that the state government is moving forward by taking the right stand on the issue.
