ALUVA: The cremation of the five-year-old brutally murdered in Aluva got completed on Sunday. The child's mortal remains were cremated in the Keezhmadu public crematorium in the city. Meanwhile, the final farewell also got into the news for some noble cause. It was auto driver Revadh Babu from Chalakudy who conducted the last rites of the child, as many other celebrated priests neglected service. According to Revadh, many Hindu priests were approached by the locals but all denied service for the fact that the child had North Indian( Hindi) family roots.
“Priests were approached by our people from Aluva, Mala, and Kuramassery areas, but all hesitated to take part. When asked they said the death happened in a North Indian family( Hindi) and it would not be ideal for them to conduct the rituals. It was at this moment that I decided to do the final rites myself. I have no prior expertise in the field but have conducted one such ceremony. At that moment, I just considered her to be my daughter” Revadh said.
Meanwhile, another political riff opened doors as the congress pointed out the absence of government representatives and the district collector from the event. "This is Minister P Rajeeve’s constituency, and no government leaders were present. It is a disregard shown towards the victim's family and the congress will conduct a big protest against this in the coming days,” said DCC president Mohammed Shiyas.
