KOZHIKODE: Students from Kerala are not getting education loans due to fraud of nursing colleges in Karnataka. Banks deny loans because the colleges are not approved. Students who approach agencies and colleges for nursing studies will be given admission to Indian Nursing Council (INC) and university-recognized colleges. However, students will come to know that they have been given admission to unrecognized colleges which have been newly started by the university-recognized colleges only when they get the mark list of the first year examination.
Students say that around 25 nursing colleges in places like Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Hassan, and Balleri are raking in lakhs through such scams. The documents obtained from the admitted colleges are submitted to the banks for the education loan but if they want to get the second installment of the loan, they have to produce the mark list. This is when the students undergo a crisis. Banks are denying further loans because the colleges in the document submitted for loan and the colleges in the mark list are different. Due to bank loan denial, many people have stopped their studies.
Studying in unrecognized colleges also hinders going abroad. Students wishing to go abroad need approval from the CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools). However, students are denied admission on the production of college certificates with no INC approval.
