NEW DELHI: The central government will organize a campaign program 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' to honor those who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom. Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained the details of the program on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav and Independence Day in the monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat.

Plaques will be erected in lakhs of villages in the country to honor the martyrs. In the Amrit Kalash Yatra organized as part of this, soil and saplings will be brought to Delhi in 7500 pots from different parts of the country. These will be used to build a garden near the National War Memorial in Delhi. This will be a great symbol of the concept of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Modi also requested everyone to hoist the national flag in front of their homes on Independence Day like last time.

Thanks to the US for returning the artifacts

In Maan Ki Baat, Modi thanked the United States for returning more than 100 Indian artifacts. 2500 to 250 years old objects were returned. There are many statues of the Chola Empire in the recovered collection. Modi also mentioned that during his visits to the US in 2016 and 2021, he brought back many artifacts.

Letters from women Hajj pilgrims

Modi informed that women who have returned to the country after Hajj pilgrimage have written to him. More than 4,000 women went for Hajj this year without a male escort. Earlier it was not possible for women to perform Hajj without a male escort. Modi thanked Saudi Arabia for paving the way for this.

Join hands against drugs

Collective action is needed to end drug abuse in the country. Recently, one and a half lakh kilos of intoxicating drugs were found and destroyed in the country. Modi also said that 10 lakh kilos of drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore have been destroyed.
