KOCHI: The excise department conducted a widespread search in after the murder of theb five-year-old girl. The inspection is being carried out at the camps in Perumbavoor and Aluva, where the migrant workers reside. Officials from various stations in the district are joining forces to conduct raids.
The purpose of the inspection is to investigate whether there is drug abuse among the workers. There are reports that intoxicants were found during the inspection.
Last Saturday, a five-year-old girl was killed and buried, with her body covered in a sack. The post-mortem report also confirms that the child was raped and suffocated to death. The accused in the case, Ashaq Alam (26), a native of Bihar, is currently in remand. The investigation team has thoroughly examined the room where he was staying.
