NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned two American citizens in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ yesterday. Modi was referring to two Californians who had come to Kashmir. They came to fulfill their lifelong ambition of undertaking the Amarnath journey. The Information and Public Relations Department of Jammu and Kashmir has also released the video of the two individuals.
Although their names were not disclosed, both of them stated that they were devotees of Swami Vivekananda and resided in Vivekananda Ashram at California. "A journey to Amarnath has been a dream that we have cherished in our minds for years. Every day, we watch Aarti (ritual) on YouTube. Now, our dream has come true as we participate in the Amarnath pilgrimage. The happiness in our minds cannot be described in words," both of them said. They also expressed their gratitude to the Amarnath Pilgrim Board for organizing the pilgrimage.
The journey began on July 1 and will end on August 31. The Amarnath Cave is situated at an altitude of 3888 meters above sea level.
