KOCHI: The Department of Women and Child Development sanctioned Rs one lakh as an immediate relief to the family of a five-year-old girl killed in Aluva. The amount was sanctioned under the relief fund scheme of the Department of Women and Child Development. Aswasanidhi Project is the financial aid given to the immediate family members of women and children sexually assaulted.

Minister Veena George visited the child’s parents in Aluva and informed that the financial assistance will be given through the relief fund. Following this, the Department of Women and Child Development took immediate action and ordered the financial assistance.

Asafak (26) of Bihar, kidnapped, sexually abused and murdered the girl, who was playing in the courtyard of the Mukkathu Plaza complex, where migrants stay. He buried her body at a dumping area behind the Aluva Market, which is 1.5 kilometers away. Though the police caught the accused within five hours after the incident, they were not able to trace the child. After 18 hours, the body of the child was found tied in a sack and buried.
