KOCHI: Online criminals who lure their victims through internet traps and sell their nude videos and pictures to earn crores. Cyber experts say that lakhs of people, including foreigners, buy videos priced at Rs 1000 to 1500. It was found out that Kerala is also in the trap when a young couple was caught in the case of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Kollam Kulathupuzha and selling the footage through Instagram. This is a daily occurrence in North India.

Such sites operate from IP addresses in countries such as China, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Nigeria. They are also present in North India. Locking them up is difficult, but if a complaint is filed immediately, the police can prevent the footage from spreading.

The first step is to attract people by posting half-naked videos on social media from Instagram to Twitter. Then they invite the people to private websites and charge a fixed amount and transfer videos and pictures. Money is made instantly.

Buying videos from porn sites is done using a UPID created with a fake address. Hence it becomes difficult to reach the buyers.

•Magistrate Court can be approached to stop the spreading of the visuals. These can be removed from all platforms on Google by court order.
