THIRUVALLA: Anas (Anish-38), a resident of Pathanapuram Poonkulanji Karashanamkodu, who rented a house under the guise of book printing and distributed counterfeit currency notes, was caught by the crime branch. The accused was caught in the investigation by the special team of the Crime Branch on the complaint of the owner of the rented house that Anas had tried to print and distribute counterfeit notes under the guise of book printing in Adoor Ezhamkulam Plantation Mukku.
After staying here for a year, he took copies of 2000, 500 and 100 notes and printed them on A4 size paper to prepare fake currency notes. The owner of the house filed a complaint with the police after finding parts of burnt fake currency. Anas, who escaped after learning about this, was taken into custody by a special investigation team led by Detective Inspector K Vinod from the premises of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
The accused was taken to the rented house in Ezhamkulam Plantation Mukku, a shop in Pandalam where he bought the computer to print notes, a firm in Kottayam where he bought printing machines and a photocopy firm in Thiruvalla, for evidence collection. He was nabbed by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Altaf, ASI Joyce Chacko, CPOs Ajeev Kumar, Anurag and Muralidharan on the instructions of Crime Branch SP N Rajan and DySP KR Pradeek. He will be produced in court today.
