AMRAVATI: A councilor slapped himself with a slipper for failing to fulfill the promises he made to his voters. Councilor Ramaraju (40) of Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh hit his face with his own slipper. The video of the incident is now going viral on social media.

‘I tried all options but could not keep up the promises made to the voters, he told media. Ramaraju, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member, is a councilor in Narsipatnam Municipality. I could not solve civic issues like drainage, power, sanitation, roads and other problems in my ward since elected councilor. He said in the council meeting that it was better to die for not being able to fulfill the promises. The TDP shared a video of Ramaraju crying and hitting himself with a slipper on Twitter.

Ramaraju is the tribal representative of Lingapuram village who won with the support of Telugu Desam Party. TDP has mentioned on Twitter that even after coming to power, he has not been able to install a single tap in the village.
