GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government is planning to introduce a strange condition for love marriages in the state. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has hinted that the government is planning to make parental consent mandatory in love marriages if it is constitutionally feasible.
Bhupendra Patel said that the state government will study if the provision of making parental consent mandatory in love marriages is constitutionally feasible. The Gujarat CM said this in response to the demand by some sections of the Patidar community that parental consent be made mandatory for such marriages.
The Gujarat CM said this while speaking at a function in Mehsana. He also said that Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel told him to get a study done into the incidents of girls eloping for marriage.
