KOCHI: Ernakulam POCSO court remanded Asafaq Alam in police custody for ten days in the brutal murder of a five-year-old girl in Aluva. Prosecution demanded that custody is necessary as the accused is not cooperating with the investigation. Taking this into account, the accused was released in police custody till August 31.
Meanwhile, Asafaq Alam was found to be an accused in a POCSO case in Delhi in 2018. He was accused in the case of molesting a ten-year-old girl and he came to Kerala on bail after spending a month in prison. He is also an accused in a mobile phone case in Kerala. Police is also investigating whether he is accused in more cases.
Meanwhile, an identification parade of Asafaq Alam was held at Aluva Sub Jail. Tajuddin, the laborer who saw the accused and the child at the market, Santhosh, the conductor of the KSRTC bus in which the accused was traveling, and a female passenger of the bus identified the accused.
