KOCHI: NIA seized banned outfit Popular Front of India's Manjeri-based Karaparamba Green Valley Academy. It was the same office mostly used by the party cadres for weapon training classes. The office was also hiding space for the murder accused within the party. Spread over 10 hectares, Greenvalley Academy was confiscated by invoking UAPA.
A team led by NIA Kochi Unit Chief Inspector K Umesh Rai reached the spot on Monday evening and conducted the procedures. NIA notices have been issued for the acquisition of immovable and movable properties from the office. According to NIA, the PFI cadres often stored explosive materials in this office. This is the sixth weapon training center of PFI closed in Kerala and is also the eighteenth property of the party to get seized by NIA.
Periyar Valley, Valluvanad House, Malabar House, Karunya Charitable Trust, and Trivandrum Education and Service Trust were confiscated earlier. Many such raids were conducted by NIA officials in these buildings months before when the central government banned the outfit. From the Library functioning inside the academy, a few books, pamphlets, and mobile phones were confiscated by the officials. The NIA has also learned in full about the financial links between arrested PFI leaders with the academy.
