THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With BYJU's supremacy across the digital education platform seeing a downfall, a slew of other education apps have chanced upon to fill the void left by the once-maven in the field. More than 100 education apps are currently operating in the country. It is reported that these new education apps have more than 8 crore customers across the country.
BYJU's had a presence in almost 120 countries across the globe. In India, during its halcyon days, BYJU saw an active 15 crore customer base. However, in the ensuing shoddier run, many of its frustrated customers switched allegiance and have now subscribed to the melange of other educational applications working rampant in India.
Apart from new entries, apps that earlier tried to match BYJU's might in business, which include Unacademy and Vedantu are also seeing a big rush in customer base. Apart from the syllabus of school and college classes, online education for competitive exams like PSC, SSC, Banking and Civil Services are the new attractions. Many employees fired or laid off from BYJU's have joined the rival education apps. Meanwhile, many other education apps are offering services at half of the rates proposed by BYJU's.
With the reopening of school, many expected a dip in subscribers for online education apps. But breaking all odds, there seems no dearth of customers, while most have now adapted to the hybrid education system. Housewives constitute a major part of customers.
